Our History

THE HISTORY OF LION OF JUDAH MIRACLE TEMPLE, INC.™

After experiencing several divine encounters with God, and sharing her experiences with two personal friends, Elder LaWanda Gray (now known as Pastor LaWanda Gray-Henry) decided to seek the face of God for a more clear understanding. And on March 31, 2004, the dream of all dreams had taken place. God spoke! That dream was the push Elder LaWanda needed from God to thrust her into what God was calling her to do.

On April 1, 2004 an impromptu meeting was called. It was at this meeting that Elder LaWanda had shared with the group of 5 individuals her experiences with God and what God was instructing her to do. Almost immediately, a Vote of Confidence and Commencement was conducted. The group assembled agreed that Elder LaWanda was ready to Pastor.

And on Sunday, June 6, 2004, Lion of Judah Miracle Temple, Inc.™ opened its doors with 10 members in the basement of she and Brother Michael Morgan’s home.

Lion of Judah’s membership increased beyond what the edifice could seat, and therefore in November 2007, Lion of Judah Miracle Temple, Inc. moved to 5825 Martin Luther King Jr. Hwy.  During our time there, the creation of many ministries were birthed, such as R~O~Y~A~L~T~Y™ (The Reasons Our Youth Are Learning To Yield™), Harvest of Hope, Building Operations Ministry. After experiencing several problems with the plumbing, Pastor Gray decided that enough was enough, and took a leap of faith. Thus, on the last Sunday, in December 2009, Lion of Judah vacated the premises of 5825 MLK Jr. Hwy.

God always had a plan for Lion of Judah, we never missed a Sunday. The Lord planted us on Marlboro Pike for a brief stay; just long enough for the enemy to step in. After 3 weeks of Worshipping, a meeting was called by the Bishop of the church, and without notice, we were told that we had to leave.

Not worried, but overly concerned, Pastor Gray knew she had to find a place to worship. She consulted with two Bishops. These Men of God both offered their edifice to Lion of Judah. Pastor Gray considered the commute for the members and decided to take one of the Bishop’s up on his offer, thus in January 2010, Lion of Judah began worshipping at 137 Mercantile Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD. After 6 months, Lion of Judah was once again found in a meeting. After not being able to come to an agreement about the increase in rent, Lion of Judah was once again out in the wilderness, but we never missed a Sunday.

In June 2010, Lion of Judah begin having services at 7730 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD. The Lord truly used the Pastor of Power of Prayer Ministries to bless Lion of Judah Miracle Temple, Inc.; she offered them the use of her edifice at a rate that they could afford. Look at God! Many ministry’s have been birthed while worshipping there, such as: The Broadcast Ministry, The Public Relations Ministry, and The Outreach Ministry.

The wilderness experience that Lion of Judah Miracle Temple, Inc encountered was only to prepare us for what was to come. We don’t take lightly the struggles, the heartaches and headaches that we had to endure. But, it was through these trying times, that the Lord really showed us His Power.

In August 2012, the Lord did what He promised! Thus, Lion of Judah Miracle Temple, Inc. moved into our own edifice at 1450 Mercantile Lane, Suite 241, Upper Marlboro, MD;. and within 6 months we were able to obtain additional space (Suite 249) for our Children’s Church. It’s amazing that the Lord brought us back to the same area where Lion of Judah once  worshipped.

Lion of Judah Miracle Temple, Inc. will forever be grateful for those that helped us while traveling through the wilderness.

Humbly submitted,

Elder LaWanda Gray-Henry, Pastor
